Queer Van Run Club
(QVRC)

An inclusive nonprofit run club for Vancouver’s queer community. I led the evolution of the club’s visual identity, transforming a hand-drawn frog into a recognizable, utilitarian, and community-driven brand system rooted in bold typography and a distinctive all-green palette.

Queer Van Run Club is a registered nonprofit creating an inclusive running space for Vancouver’s queer community, offering two paces to keep the club accessible and welcoming. When I joined, the identity began with a hand-drawn frog sketch. I refined and vectorized the original illustration, developed logo variations, defined the typography, and built a cohesive visual system centered around a strong, single-color green palette.

The brand balances utilitarian run club energy with the quirky personality of the frog, now lovingly named Fern by the community. Today, the identity is highly recognizable and continues to grow alongside the club.

02 Monthly Schedule System

Each month, I design a shareable schedule template for Instagram that has become a core visual element of the club. The number of frogs increases with each month, creating a subtle visual marker of time and community growth. What begins with one frog in January becomes twelve by December, reflecting both seasonal progression and the collective journey of members showing up week after week.

These schedules are frequently saved and shared, reinforcing the club’s identity and recognizability online.

03 Community Campaigns & Events

QVRC Birthday Party

To celebrate QVRC’s birthday, I developed a cohesive visual campaign that extended beyond digital promotion into physical and interactive elements. The goal was to create a playful yet brand-aligned celebration that felt personal to the community. (**Photos yet to come**)

Winter Social

For the QVRC Winter Social, I designed the event poster and created a printed reflection sheet where members could write down their proudest moments of the season. The intention was to create space for celebration, recognition, and community connection beyond the run itself.

After the event, the reflections were transformed into digital content to extend the moment online. (**Photos yet to come**)

04 Seasonal & Social Graphics

Ongoing seasonal graphics designed to keep the brand playful and relevant while maintaining its visual language.
