A Journey to the Centre of the Earth

For this project, I redesigned A Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne, transforming the public domain text into a fully formatted book using InDesign. I structured the entire layout, including the table of contents, dedication page, chapter formatting, and other essential book elements to create a polished and cohesive reading experience.

To guide my design, I developed a mood board that set the tone for the book’s aesthetics. I then illustrated original artwork to bring a fresh, modern twist to the classic story. The cover is designed to intrigue the viewer. A hollow, fiery hole invites curiosity, and as you turn the book to read the back, you find yourself falling into the depths of a volcano, mirroring the journey within the pages.

This project was a deep dive into book design, from typography and layout to visual storytelling. It reimagines a timeless adventure for a contemporary audience.
